About the Artist
Amber grew up making art at her grandparents’ kitchen table in the prairies of South Louisiana, where she could see an endless expanse of rice fields and some of the world’s most beautiful skies. She is inspired by repeating patterns in nature and in human and animal behavior, and by deep metaphors of life that can’t be described with words. Art has always been a primary way to encourage brave decision making in her students and her children; she believes that art makes humans powerful and that in some ways, it has the power to heal. She finds never-ending inspiration from her horse friends and how they interact with humans, each other, and with the earth. She loves to create and to give others the tools to create. Her favorite moments are eternal ones, and they involve coffee, her family and friends, prayer, and her front porch.
Amber embeds tiny stars in all of her work. Sometimes, the stars are hidden, sometimes more prominent. They always represent a connection between the artist, the viewer, and those tihngs that we all are working to connect, such as time, family, ideals, or dreams to whatever has to be done to make them real. They also stand for connections that exist outside of time: love, and the love between souls on earth and souls that have moved on. Her work never feels complete until they are there.
